Complex yet highly interpretable. The opening sequence of Persona effectively reintegrate individual repressions to the conscious stream.The plosive psychoanalytic images serve to wake the submerged Personae, so to relive multiplicity that would allow us to discern what Alma horridly sees in Elisabet's reflective silence.

Swedish visionary Ingmar Bergman grabs his viewers by the cerebral cortex and bungs them into a world of boundless secrets and perplexing paranoia in this visually arresting, viscerally jarring psycho-drama. Brimming with animosity and unrelenting dread, Bergman's film is tantalisingly creepy from start to finish; a meandering mindfuck you just never want to end. Beautifully lit, utterly unique and undisputedly fascinating.

This is only the 2nd Bergman film I have seen (Seventh Seal being the first) but if Ingmar Bergman has made a better film, I may very well die of shock. Absolutely jaw-dropping
