while the action cranks up in the final half-hour, it's shot in such an incoherent manner that it renders the entire endeavor rather impotent. And by the time the film's confusing finale arrives, we're left with only one real question: "That's it?"

Easily my favorite movie in the franchise. The motel scenes, rituals, and camerawork reminded me of many classic horror films. I felt similar scares as ones from more modern horror such as Hereditary. Well worth watching if you are a fan of paranormal activity, and looking to learn more about the next chapter in the franchise. This film builds on the past work in a beautiful way, with some amazing shots, and has a great pace. I especially enjoyed that only 30 some minutes into the film they are already scaring the audience in her mothers bedroom, in many of the same ways we would be afraid in past paranormal films. Looking forward to getting more movies in this style, as they have laid the groundwork for many more interesting stories to take place.

Ultimately, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin is neither a believable nor an entertaining film.

The ratings here will forever make me not take ratings seriously for movies. People always love to complain and especially for horror movies if it’s not “The Shining” it’s not a good movie. This movie is fantastic. It’s a must watch.
