One Night at McCool's (2001)

On an ordinary night, in an ordinary part of town, a beautiful young woman walks into a bar. Her name is Jewel, and before long she is chatting to bartender Randy. The pair leave together, but he ends up getting into a tussle with her criminal boyfriend, who she then shoots dead, later persuading Randy to take the rap for her. But this isn't the end of it, as both Randy's cousin Carl and the detective assigned to the murder case also fall for Jewel's charms and find themselves caught up in the ensuing events. It seems that any man who meets Jewel falls instantly in love with her, and she's going to use this fully to her own advantage, leaving a trail of havoc in her wake. It also seems that she is going to get away with it - that is, until Randy decides to hire a hitman...

A really bizarre blend of comedy and brutal killing. I was truly not expecting the turn of events in the movie. However, it falls short of actually having any purpose besides showing off Liv Tyler. It has it's moments, but in the end it is just a forgettable comedy.

If Rashomon were filmed through a shampoo bottle, you'd have some idea what to expect from the surprisingly mean-spirited comedy, One Night at McCool's.

Liv Tyler seducing every guy she meets. Good show as always with Liv Tyler and Matt Dillion. Funny ending with Paul Reiser.

A pretty cool movie, but it ended kinda weirdly. I thought by bringing all the stories in they would of linked up better, but the end was a bit crap. That being said seeing Liv Tyler wear pretty much nothing the whole film was awesome. The scene of her washing the car was so freakin hot. Douglas was the stand out though, and his shocking wig.

You've got to admire an actor who's willing to portray a complete doofus on screen and Matt Dillon certainly deserves all the plaudits going for his role in this screwball comedy centred on the antics of a female con artist. As subtle as a brick, it's amiable enough thanks to the free-wheeling performances of its ensemble cast.
