Broadway producer Jerry Flynn is anxious to recapture the magic and reclaim the crowds after a set of costly flops. Outside his theater one night, Flynn meets a young boy who just might save the day. Inside a small box the boy shows Flynn his pride and joy: a caterpillar named Curly that dances to Yes Sir, That's My Baby. Word quickly spreads about the amazingly talented hoofer, and the caterpillar becomes a symbol of hope for wartime America. Soon, offers are pouring in to capitalize on this sensational insect.

"Once Upon A Time" es una bellisima y delicada historia filmada y ambientada en plena Segunda Guerra Mundial, en al que un fracasado director teatral, interpretado por Cary Grant, se encuentra con un nino quien tiene como mascota a una oruga llamada Curly que baila al son de su armonica. "Once Upon A Time" lo transportara a un mundo magico e inocente sin caer en el sentimentalismo o exceso de sacarina. Es una pelicula que nos recuerda lo hermoso que era el cine de Hollywood de antano.

Why any creature, let along a caterpillar, would be able to find any rhythm in Pinky's spastic, asthmatic [harmonica] playing is beyond me.

Deservedly obscure Cary Grant film, paper thin and borderline idiotic about a dancing caterpillar! The lead kid could not be more noxious and Grant gives, for him, a remarkably arch performance, mugging shamelessly often. He must have realized what a dog this was, forced to do it under contract and figured that over reacting and turning on the goo might save this dreck. Janet Blair is incredibly lovely but given very little to do.
