The best parts of this tepid thriller, which seems designed to actually lower audience’s heart rates, arrive before the plot kicks in.

When I wasn't laughing at the absurdity of where things go I was bored out of my mind waiting for long silent stares hiding nothing to finally turn into action.

Mike D'Angelo 05 Mar 2015

October Gale plays like an adaptation of a quick outline for a romantic thriller, rushed into production before anyone got around to actually writing the screenplay and fleshing things out.

Susan G. Cole 18 Dec 2015

A great performance by Patricia Clarkson - so what else is new? - can't save this strange thriller.

Chris Knight 26 Mar 2015

[Clarkson and Speedman's] strong performances carry the viewer over any narrative bald patches to a sudden and yet satisfying conclusion.
