Northfork (2003)

The year is 1955, and a great flood is coming to Northfork, Montana. A new hydroelectric dam is about to be installed in the mountains above the town, ready to submerge the valley in the name of progress. It is the responsibility of a six-man Evacuation Committee to relocate the townsfolk to higher ground. Most have duly departed, but a few stubborn stragglers remain – among them a priest caring for a sickly orphan, a boy whose fevered visions are leading him to believe he is a member of a roaming band of lost angels desperately searching for a way home.

One of my favorite movies. Very strange. Artistic but not overly so. It makes me happy.

...a transcendent tone poem, an arrangement in dun and gray marred only slightly by the brothers' insistence on the occasional tin-ear joke

I didn't expect much out of this one. The last few times I trusted something with Nick Nolte in it I was severly dissapointed. (Stay away from Breakfast Of Champions). I found this movie to be quite intriguing. The story meandered about but still it was something I could not look away from. No matter how confused I felt I had to watch it to the end to find out what was going on. The bleached out look, more famously done in Tom Cruises "Minority Reprt, does better here. Giving us a feeling were watching things through a fog. The movie wont be for everyone. If you like your entertainment simple and light. This may not be the movie for you. If you aren't afraid to invest yourself, check it out. It's worth it.

James Woods in a 5 star movie? Haha. Yep. This movie is so mystical and conceptually mind-blowing. It's definitely not for everyone as it's more geared to the artsy-fartsy types. And I an guarantee that some of it isn't gonna make any sense at all. This movie left me with a great feeling of peace, it was incredible. One of my faves. I love the trailer too.

An idiosyncratic gem from the Polish Brothers. Weird and cool, this one will stay with you.
