While not entirely an original plot (think along the lines of The Replacement Killers) the story involves a hitman named Gon who while doing a job accidentally kills a young child by mistake. He is then told the job was incomplete and is then given the task of going after a woman who also happens to be the child's mother. Clearly dissatisfied with being a hitman he reluctantly flies to Korea for the job but then ends up trying to protect the woman from other assassins one of which is a good friend of his. The action sequences are great, the gore is just right, and the ending is not what you would necessarily expect. Very well done as the only drawback is it tends to shift from English language to Korean so it is something you have to pay attention to fully. Great great movie though and highly recommended. 10/10

There are more tears than the title lets on, and even more blood, but it's a reason to truly be invested that's missing from No Tears for the Dead, which is rarely any better or worse than serviceable.

Was pretty disappointed despite the awesome fight scenes as expected from a film maker who made one of the most badass Korean suspense action "The Man From Nowhere". Now this one, is nothing near to that. The story line is okay, just a typical suspense drama. I thought it could be worst when things are getting ridiculous.You're wondering, how is that guy still alive despite of all the gun shots done to him? And still he can fight until the end, by the power of love hell yes. I was like, laughing till the movie ends. It's just not pretty. It lacks the intensity that I'm looking for. Yup I was entertained on those action scenes, and that's it. Was not really into the story. Hate the whole love thing that was going on. Story could be more good than this.

The expectation was high for director Lee Jeong-beom and star Jang Dong-gun but the movie didn't do well in cinemas. But a movie's success shouldn't be measured by how much it earns. No Tears for the Dead is very effective when it comes to delivering what South Korean action is known for without forgetting about the emotional aspect without the need for romance.

Great movie! haven't seen an emotional action packed movie like this in awhile! recommend for anyone into action movies like man of Tia chi or raid redemption.
