It was one of those movies. One of those movies that when you're done watching, unless you can't stomach the crime genre, you'll be giving nothing but praise. Viggo Mortensen, my goodness, you were robbed of an Oscar.

Despite the problems with the characterisations, Cronenberg's portentous, withholding camera creates a compelling tension around Watts and Mortensen's love/hate scenes.

This is truly one of the best performance I have seen Viggo Mortensen in, and it is a masterpiece. A fascinating look at the Russian mob based in central London and an intricate look at their ways and seriously badass performances by Vincent Cassel and Armin Mueller-Stahl. I can't get enough of this film.
