Wasabi (2001)

Hubert is a French policeman with very sharp methods. After being forced to take 2 months off by his boss, who doesn't share his view on working methods, he goes back to Japan, where he used to work 19 years ago, to settle the probate of his girlfriend who left him shortly after marriage without a trace.

Fantastic... so long as you're down with Besson/Krawcyk you'll bloody love it. Especially for the Taxi (sequels) fans. (It's basically Taxi 2.)

Simply a movie not for americans. Grossly misunderstood by the american market (oh yeah, Battleship with Ryhannah, that's a fine movie...) Wasabi is actually a very entertaining movie, it made me laugh from the beginning to the end, the girl is delicious and everyone who (like me) spent more than 1 day in Japan knows very well that there is no exageration in portraying Tokyo's lifestyle and youth behaviour (go to the bus stop at Shinjuku station and you will see thousands of Yumis). The French comedies are simply unbeatable and as Italian, I hate to admit it.
