A brilliant opening scene, but the political message is weak.

Catches the attention from beginning to end.

Derek B 16 Jan 2012

Too talky and uncinematic to hold your attention, unfortunately, though there are certainly some stylish touches and good performances. For Kieslowski completists only.

Kenneth M 17 Nov 2008

Slightly disappointing compared to some of the Polish director's other films but still worth a watch for the performanes

Dennis Schwartz 01 Jan 2000

The film was powerful enough in its political jibes to have made the state and the church and the opposition party condemn it.
