Nil by Mouth (1997)

The family of Raymond, his wife Val and her brother Billy live in working-class London district. Also in their family is Val and Billy's mother Janet and grandmother Kath. Billy is a drug addict and Raymond kicks him out of the house, making him live on his own. Raymond is generally a rough and even violent person, and that leads to problems in the life of the family.

Brutal,dramatic & compelling! This film is a must see by all! Written & directed by gary oldman, & magnificent performances by both Ray Winstone & Kathy Burke et all! A true British Film that must be watched!

This movie is awesome Ray Winstone gives a brilliant performance as Ray the wife abuser of Val played excellently by Kathy Burke her brother Billy who is played fantasically by Charlie Creed Miles is a heroin addict who is kicked out of the house by Ray her mother Janet played by Lalia Morse tries to help her children Val against her brutal husband and Billy with his addiction Jamie Foreman also delivers a brilliant performance as Mark the best friend of Ray

Deeply disturbing but amazing British film from Gary Oldman with the brilliant Ray Winstone and Cathy Burke on life on a south London council estate. Amazing but hard to watch in places. Gary Oldman should make more films! Also stars 'Big Mo' from Eastenders (Oldman's sister) in her first acting role.
