Perhaps the best food movie ever. This movie, as I discussed with my friends after seeing it, has what is missing in so many American films: subtlety. Martina Gedeck's understated compulsion for culinary perfection and order is unparalleled. This is not overdone at all, it is how people act when they are obsessive. But a small child throws a huge wrench into that. Add a very strange Italian into her inner sanctum (kitchen) and you have quite a movie. It's a film that catches the range of human emotions and unfortunately it has been made into the movie I was afraid it would be here. The best scenes are butchered (for lack of a better term) and they lose their power. The sub-titles are worth it, trust me.

This German movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Did not want to see how Hollywood basterised this movie with "taking reservations"

I love this film very much, as I seen this for couple of years, and it still very impressed. Unfortunately I can't find the soundtrack, I love the music on this film

this film is a close second. again, impeccable acting, maybe better than in dear frankie. the cooking analogies martha uses are very effective.
