After several years of living with a cult, Martha finally escapes and calls her estranged sister, Lucy, for help. Martha finds herself at the quiet Connecticut home Lucy shares with her new husband, Ted, but the memories of what she experienced in the cult make peace hard to find. As flashbacks continue to torment her, Martha fails to shake a terrible sense of dread, especially in regard to the cult's manipulative leader.

i dont know how to express how perfectly this movie moves back and forth so seamlessly. so utterly shocked at how good it was. an ultra creepy psycho drama that has you looking over your shoulder.

This is an incredibly well-made film. You do not realize how gradually it takes hold of you and captivates you. Great performances all around and great direction make for a gripping yet disturbing experience. There is a matter-of-factness to the presentation that belies the complexity and the depth of the underlying story. It must be seen to be believed, and then it will long be remembered.

What a fantastic-#&*ing-movie! I will be recommending this film in random conversation for the next year at least. The writing, directing, cinematography, acting, sound etc etc is just SPOT ON. Olsen is INCREDIBLE and chilling. The serene set and lack of ambient noise and music is so beautiful and suspense-setting. I cannot say enough about how well done this movie was. Heck I am changing this from 4/5 to 5 stars. Just watch it.

Martha Marcy May Marlene! This film was amazing, everything about it was amazing. My favourite thing about it is the cinematography or the acting, both of those were phenominal. The score was frightening and very effective in the scenes where it was used. This is arthouse at its best with a clear, but very disturbing story, and it makes this movie a masterpeice in film and a movie that you should definatley watch, i was surprised with the movie because the trailer didn't look amazing, but the critic score made me watch it and the critics are right, this movie is amazing. i highly reccomend this film!
