loved that Salman Rushdie wrote the screenplay and then narrated the thing. great adaptation of the book, but it helps to know a fair bit of that history.

I enjoyed this film however found parts of it (especially the beginning) hard to follow as it switches between English an subtitles very quickly. Not as great as Water but worth a viewing :)

Considering Midnight's Children is bound up in notions of identity, it is faintly disastrous that this adaptation should be so lacking in one of its own.

Maybe I needed to know more about the period of history, but I wasn't sure what the point of the movie was. Children with mystical powers that didn't do anything? I mean it was intriguing to follow Saleem's life story, but the whole midnight's children aspect didn't work for me.
