Midnight Mary is one of the fines films pre-code has to offer. It could have turned out unbearably melodramatic, but it was luckily directed by Wild Bill Wellman. It's one of the tawdriest and sexiest movies of the early 1930s. Loretta Young's performance is really incredible.

3: The loose women, presumed prostitution, and recreational sex make it obvious it's pre-code. Loretta Young is ravishing as always, but perhaps more so here than is usual simply because she is so young. There is also an open discussion of basic instances and nature, such as sex, followed by a discussion of their plans for the rest of the evening. Solid film and a winning title to boot. A winner in my book.

69/100. Good pre-code crime drama. Loretta Young is surprisingly effective and gives a freshness to the movie. It's a rather ordinary story, but it's well handled. The gowns and clothes by Adrian are magnificent. Fine photography and the art direction is very good.

Lurid pre code drama, a bit on the absurd side but it does move quickly and Loretta Young is incredibly beautiful, she seems to glow in almost every scene,
