It's a prison film and a social-realist picture of the Loachian school: fierce, unsentimental, engrossing.

I'm still reeling from the experience of watching this movie- it has to be one of the most powerful and beautifully crafted Irish films I've ever seen. I urge you to see it - it's not always easy to watch but believe me Michael's story will haunt you for a long time.
