This was a little dissapointment. :( After seeing The Man Without a Past my expectations were high... This was too boring... and probably too simple. Simple movies/stories can be so beautiful but in this one something just didn't click...

Nothing much is new in the latest film from Kaurismaki, but in all honesty, i'd be worried if there was! Koistinen, a loser of a security guard, has his loneliness exploited by a jewellery thief as a beautiful blonde is sent to feign an interest in him, until some necessary information is obtained. The cinematography is noticeably crisper and the deadpan Jan Hyytiainen will hopefully become one of the regular cast in future films. The glimmer of hope at the end shows that Kaurismaki's fundamental humanism is still there. Won't win over any new fans I don't think but will more than satisfy those few who love his films.

Being not a fan of Aki Kaurismaki- This film apparently is not my cup of tea. The film itself is simple, clean and neat which can even be used as a films-making teaching material with abundant film languages inside. Emotionless actings and its purposely primitive, however, make the film odd and weird.

Kaurismaki creates some beautiful frames, carefully composing his affectless characters against the rooms' colors, but there's something wrong with your story when people are upstaged by the decor.
