Merry Andrew (1958)

When eccentric English teacher Andrew Larabee needs a raise in order for his fiancée to marry him, his interest in archaeology leads him to an ancient statue's burial site. But when he finds a traveling circus directly above the statue's location, he accidentally becomes part of the act. With a newfound passion for performance and an attraction to the beautiful acrobat Selena, Andrew must decide what is truly important to him.

Great movie! It might become one of my favorite Danny Kaye movies. I thought it also has a perfect ending. very cute.

A very funny film and one of my all time favorite movies. Danny Kaye is superb as the teacher who wants to really be an archeaologist. He gets his wish and must try to search for the Pan statue that he alone knows the location of while a circus is going on above the tunnel he is searching in. It has great songs and the choreography, notably the bike riding during the Tickety Boo song and the Salud song dancing. Lots of fun and a great follow up to Kaye's The Court Jester. A cheerful, fun, Tickety Boo-like movie!

Late-cycle MGM musical is a typical Danny Kaye vehicle, giving him plenty of room to exhibit his shtick; Michael Kidd directed and choreographed, with lackluster results except for one nice production number ("Salute").
