Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976)

A one-armed martial arts master is being stalked by an Imperial assassin, the master of two fighters killed in the previous film. When the One-Armed Boxer is invited to attend a martial arts tournament, his efforts to lay low are unsuccessful, and the assassin soon tracks him down with the help of his three subordinates: a Thai boxer, a yoga master, and a kobojutsu user.

Classic. Pure classic. One of Wang Yu's most renowned films, and one of his best. He takes his One Armed Boxer series to the climax here. It has a one armed Chinese boxer, along with a blind man who yields a flying guillotine. It's a simple tale of revenge, but based around a tournament. Just the perfect kung fu revenge movie. Full of all kinds of unique characters, some of which even inspired characters from Street Fighter II. Do yourself a favor, and see this on a Friday night with some friends. The soundtrack is also awesome too, this electric like techno-esque music, perfect for this film.

I first heard grand stories about this movie from My uncles when I was about 10, and since that age, I had Quested to find this, Legendary Kung fu movie. About a year ago, I finally saw this movie, 12 years after I had first heard about it. By far, It has some of the most colorful and memorable kung-fu warriors and battles I have ever seen! I would recomend this to any one who enjoys good kung fu

A kung fu movie about a blind monk seeking revenge on the one-armed boxer who killed his disciples. The one-armed boxer is played by the film?s director, Jimmy Wang-Yu, and is technically the hero of the film. I say ?technically? because, despite his moralizing, he uses some pretty underhanded methods in dealing with the bad guys ? like fighting the barefooted Thai boxer in a room with hot coals under the floor. Other highlights include the Indian Yoga master, whose arms can extend to twice their normal length, and the craftily named ?Wins Without a Knife?. It was an independently made film, so it doesn?t look or feel like any of the Hong Kong martial arts films that came out of the major studios like Shaw Brothers. All-in-all, a delirious, gonzo piece of filmmaking, featuring stolen krautrock cues from Neu! and Can, as well as one of the all-time classic English dub tracks.
