To play Marie today, Améris found the non-actor Ariana Rivoire at the Institute for the Deaf. And Rivoire is a revelation — showing what it's like to be in, and then break out of, a world of total darkness and silence.

At its most provocative, it suggests a tension between spirit and flesh in the nun's maternal feelings. Rather than examine that friction, Améris pushes the narrative in predictable directions.

I thought this was a beautiful story, well acted and not melodramatic.....while a box of tissues nearby is necessary, I loved this little french movie.....extremely heartwarming and actually based on a true story. If it had been made in the U.S., no doubt it would have been overdone.

Bien por contar un pedazo de la historia de Marie Heurtin y su educadora, la hermana Marguerite. Una historia de la vida real que distorsionaron de estúpida forma para hacerla más dramática. Gran papel de Ariana Rivoire pero resulta aburrida y predecible, cumple con todos los cliches necesarios para este tipo de empalagosas narraciones.
