Man with the Gun (1955)

A stranger comes to town looking for his estranged wife. He finds her running the local girls. He also finds a town and sheriff afraid of their own shadow, scared of a landowner they never see who rules through his rowdy sidekicks. The stranger is a town tamer by trade, and he accepts a $500 commission to sort things out.

Really good western with Mitchum on top bad-ass form again, this town as a 'town-tamer', a hired gun who cleans up towns of their problem elements by any means necessary. Littel seen, and underated, this is by no means a run-of-the-mill western with some great set-pieces and scripting.

Robert Mitchum is suitably mean in this western with a simple plot, however his character makes this film very watchable.

Pretty standard oater of lawman Mitchum cleaning up a lawless town is only distinguished by the presence of Robert Mitchum and a good score by Alex North. This was also Samuel Goldwyn Jr.'s first film production.

Simple story but great characters. Not just Mitchum`s character but also the marshal(Henry Hull). This is the only film that i know which uses the word "town tamer". all in all it is a decent Western.
