Madison County (2011)

A group of college kids travel to a small, mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of several grisly murders that happened there. But when the kids get to Madison County, the author is no where to be found and the towns people act like they haven't seen him in years. They also say that the killer never existed and the murders never happened. However, when the kids start digging around to get their own answers, they find out that the stories maybe more real than the townspeople are letting on!

It takes quite a while to get to the horror aspect of this film, but the eerie build-up and character development is easily watchable due to both being done so well. The performances were so incredible that the characters felt like real people I personally know which made the terror all the more tense when bad things do finally start happening. The death scenes were realistic and bloody and with a few minor tweaks to the story, this could've been a far superior version of the new Texas Chainsaw sequel reboot instead of the weak shot we got for 2013.

Really slow moving, didn't care for the characters and had an anticlimactic ending. I love my horror and this one just didn't 'cut' it.

Madison County is well done, at least on the technical side. It looks very good visually, but that's about the best thing that the film has going for it. The creative side of the coin is less praise worthy. The writing, acting, story and direction are all sufficient, but are uninspired and bring nothing new to the table. Only recommended for those that are hardcore slasher fans. Most others will get bored with this.

A competently made but ultimately useless, unimaginative, boring slasher flick. Doesn't bring absolutly nothing new to the table but there's worse out there.
