Really great film, teaches a lesson and feels good while you are involved in the story, I really like Catherine Keener as an actress and she really doesn't disappoint in this movie.

You simply want the story to go on and on. Let's hope that Holofcener's movies do: Her peregrinations through the lives of contemporary women know few screen equals.

Is there a group of more self-absorbed women than the mother and daughters featured in this film? I don't think so. Nothing wrong with performances here, but the whiney characters bugged me.

Although the themes are distinctly feminine, I still really enjoyed this independent comedy. It's a very tender and naturalistic film that never exaggerates or makes anything seem forced. The cast are all very strong, including the young actress who transforms a somewhat odd and unexplainable adopted daughter character into a believable and sympathetic child. The score in this film is also particularly good, and I caught myself humming the main theme for a couple hours after it was over. I would definitely recommend this lovely secret to fans of Little Miss Sunshine or Junebug.
