Ex-football star Mike Gambril meets Terry McKay on a flight to Sydney, which is forced to land on a small atoll. They become romantic on board a ship sent to take them to a larger island. They agree to meet in New York three months later to see if the attraction is real. One shows up but the other doesn't. However, a chance meeting brings them together again.

Good love story, just drawn out in parts.

Didn't like this one as much as the original... but then again, who can compare to Cary Grant & Deborah Kerr?

But once the couple clinch their bond -- just when the story gets really shameless -- the life drains out of the movie. Love Affair takes such pains to dodge vulgarity it forgets to put anything in its place.

Sappy, but good romantic melodrama. The only reason I was interested in watching this film is that it was directed by Glenn Gordon Carron, who was the creator of one of my all-time favorite TV shows, "Moonlighting". I liked this version better than "An Affair to Remember", which itself was a remake of the 1939 "Love Affair", which I still prefer to the two remakes. Good cast and direction made this better than I'd expected.
