There isn't anything negative that I can say about it. Tom Hardy is absolutely brilliant in the title role, the lighting is gorgeous, and the script finds a way to flesh out every single character (even the ones you never really see.) If you are in the company of someone who believes that movies can't function without grand special effects and an enormous scale, show them Locke. It may just prove them wrong.

Tom Hardy is outstanding in this unusual and experimental film which is essentially about an errant husband and a massive concrete pour! I can't think of another actor who could make this work but he gives a master class in how to give an understated but powerful performance, making the audience care about the eponymous 'hero'. Loved it! I love everything Knight does; Eastern Promises is one of the best films I've ever seen so he and Tom Hardy together (with a bit of Ruth Wilson & Olivia Coleman thrown in for good measure) = dream team in my book!

Hardy definetly is a heavyweight in acting and he showed it numerious times. Locke was emotionally deep. Some would expect overacting, but Hardy portraied his character magnificently, being cool on the outside while one can imagine what is going on on the inside. The all around atmosphere reminds me a bit of Drive, I'm sure Refn would like it.

Locke is the story of Ivan Locke (Tom Hardy) a contraction foreman who is responsible of a massive concrete pour in Birmingham UK, departs from his work place for the night. His ride on the freeway is a revelation for the audience. He have a great family with two kids and a important job. But Locke have a secret. The story takes place inside Locke's car. Thru phone calls the story unfolds between Locke, his family, a co worker, his boss and a girl. The GPS and the screens which shows the callers is the window for Ivan Lock to express his feelings, what's he going trough and where he is going. He wants to make things right this time, but a chain of problems and consequences haunt him. He wants to manage his life like he was dealing with concrete in a construction. The film is a challenge from a filmmaker point of view. shot in less than a month during nighttime telling the story inside a vehicle. Locke is a powerful film, beautiful shot and edited with a powerful performance by Tom Hardy.
