Body of Evidence (1993)

When an elderly millionaire is found dead with cocaine in his system, his will leaves $8 million to Rebecca Carlson, who was having an affair with him. District attorney Robert Garrett decides to prosecute Rebecca, arguing that she deliberately engaged in wild sex with the old man to overexcite him and lead to his premature death. Defense attorney Frank Dulaney defends Rebecca in court while getting sucked into a dangerous affair with her.

Madonna does her Sharon Stone impression... This movie panned by many critics stars Madonna as a dominatrix who is accussed of murder...Defoe plays the lawyer who falls for her ample charms...but is she guilty? Not half as bad as some critics suggest...though likes originality.

The most irritating thing about Body of Evidence is precisely the delusional erotic scenes which they would like to scandalize but only end up boring. Along the lines of Basic Instint, Madonna plays the card of a dark-hued legal thriller but, despite a predictable plot in which from the beginning you can guess who the real culprit is, no one is surprised by the high rate of sadomasochistic displayed with such arrogance.It would have worked much better as a legal drama tout court.
