Neither comedy nor tragedy altogether, it is a brilliant weaving of comic and tragic strands, eloquent, tearful and beguiling with supreme virtuosity.

Third to last film by Charles Chaplin, but unsurpassed in terms of emotional content. It hit at heart of Chaplin reflecting on his own life through Calvero. Best line in the movie: "I like working the streets. I don't know. Maybe it's just the tramp in me."

Amazing film. It is great in every way possible. It is like showing the older generation of like silent and vaudville entertainers passing down the spotlight to the next generation. One of the best films I have ever seen and definately should be on the "Must See Before You Die" list.

This is one of my favorite Chaplin films. It had comedy and drama all mixed in together. Although he gave up playing the Tramp before this movie came out, you can still see bits of him in Chaplin's later works.

This is one of the very few movies that can make me cry.
