Lightning Bug (2004)

In this drama thriller set in the South, a young boy named Green (Bret Harrison) longs to escape his unhappy life but feels trapped in his hometown. A gifted special-effects makeup artist, Green has big dreams of working in Hollywood. But the boy's personal demons -- a drunken, abusive stepfather, a group of religious zealots out to destroy his work and the love of a girl who prefers small-town life -- may stand in the way of his dreams.

Great movie - very touching and heartfelt. Semi-autobiographical account of creator Robert Hall's childhood. Excellent film.

Not a horror film, nor a thriller, but coming of age drama that never lets up. Well written and directed. A movie that again shows that most critics are out of touch with what people like. This movie is funny and depressing full slice of southern pie. Full of hateful, redneck idiots who think making 6 bucks a hour is a great deal! Highly recommended. The two leads are great as is the supporting cast. Don't miss this!

For all horror fans this movie is definately a drama that wont bore the hell out of you, I highly recommend this movie, the ending is AWESOME!

Yes, a couple of slow places. The pig/barn scene had me on the floor. Fairly good plot twists- would watch this again.
