John LeTour (William Dafoe)has been in the drug dealing business for a long time along with his partner, Ann (Susan Sarandon). It becomes complicated once his ex is involved.

Very interesting specimen. Not a game-changer, but really gets into your bones somehow. Despite my seeing it for the first time 25 years after it was made. Reminds me of Basquiat in an odd way.

with its stagey non naturalistic dialogue and hammy performances, watching this (though i wouldn't advice you do) you'll be surprised it was an original screen play and not adapted from a stage play... a very poor stage play.... What a waste of some top talent and an hour and 45 minutes

It's more hit than miss, and Dafoe's earnest portrayal carries the movie through its rockier, less sensical parts. Worth a look.

Little in this movie makes real sense; and characters (particularly Dafoe and Delany) seem to bump regularly into each other. But there's something transcendentally appealing between the lines. This is a film to be savored for its nuances rather than its story.
