Lifeboat is actually much more complicated than it first appears. Its emphasis on moral debates in dialogue can seem a little dry, but Hitchcock’s shifting sympathies guarantee our guilty involvement with the characters until he builds to a climax of intellectual and spiritual excitation.

I am indeed a great fan of Alfred Hitchcock, so when I bought this at Wally World(Walmart) for a mere $5.00, I was quite happy. I'd never seen this one before. But when I watched the other night, I was quite impressed. This is Hitchcock at his best. Unfortunately it isn't one of his more well known movies, but it sure as hell should be.

Highly exceptional Hitchcock film. Bankhead is brilliant in role. Entire cast is fantastic together. For a movie set entirely on a lifeboat in the middle of the Atlantic, it has one exciting plot that always captures the attention. Thrilling. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, especially after the arrival of one washed up Nazi. You won't want to miss a minute. Hitchcock works his magic behind the camera. One of his best, though suspenseful in a different degree.
