In 1950s England, slow-witted Derek Bentley falls in with a group of petty criminals led by Chris Craig, a teenager with a fondness for American gangster films. Let him have it is a true story and keeps yu grippedthe whole way through.

The strength of this film lies in the last hour which involves the court case and ultimately the hanging of Derek Bentley. Tragic true story of the shooting of a policeman and alleged words of Derek "Let him have it". If the last 30 minutes doesn't get to you then you have no emotion. A clear case of the British Justice system blinded by justice

This is something of an obscure film, but if you happen to ever see it on, I recommend you watch it. Featuring Christopher Eccleston in(amazingly) his first film role, this is the true story of Derek Bentley, an epileptic 19 year old with the mind of an 11 year old. Telling his story of why he was executed, it's very sad, and beautifully acted. The saddest thing about this film is that you know it has a sad ending, so no matter what happens, there never eally is hope. The supporting cast are great, the story is slow but greatly told, and it is one of the finest British films of the first half of the 90's.

This movie is far from perfect, but as a reader of Law, this has everythin you could wish for if you're lookin for the fundamentals behind the justice system. We will of course, never know the truth, post-humous pardon or not, but it sure teaches us somethin about man judgin man.

This film has a real 1950's feel about it, if I didn't know the year it was made I'd have thought it was much older. The acting, while not necessarily polised was definitely heart wrenching. Particularly of course Christopher Eccleston and also Paul Reynolds.
