Kings Go Forth is just more proof that Daves remains one of the most crucially overlooked directors of the classic Hollywood studio system.

Two GI's fighting on the French Riviera during the second world war compete for the love of a beautiful girl with a dark secret; her father was black. From the era in which Hollywood started dealing with such big and delicate issues, this film deals with the race subject, but rather than being a powerful showing of the theme and a stand out work, it feels like a soap opera trailing behind other films of the same kind and the same period. Enjoyable, but in spite of its famed case it's also forgettable.

The wartime material is fairly standard (if well-executed), but the simmering theme of racism is honestly handled, and Sinatra is excellent.

Good movie, Frank Sinatra is so sweet and so cute. Its a great story. I love Frank Sinatra so much!!!
