sorta like abstract painting insofar as in its attempt at purity it ends up limiting itself...but really who loses, it was probably made for free--and there are some really amazing moments.

A fractured and maddening fever dream made all the more chaotic due to Korine's stubbornness: he forces his film into a very precise mold where there's hardly a trace of narrative cinema to be found. There's more Stan Brackhage in Julien Donkey Boy than there is Orson Welles, or even Lars Von Trier.

This is my favorite harmony korine film to date. The cinematography id the most original I have ever witnessed. I felt mentally deranged halfway through this movie.
