Jail Bait (1954)

Don Gregor, the son of famous plastic surgeon Dr. Boris Gregor, begins to hang around with young criminal Vic Brady and carry a gun. The pair attempt an armed holdup, and when things start to go wrong Gregor accidentally kills a night watchman. Fearing that Gregor plans to turn himself in, Brady kills him and blackmails Dr. Gregor into giving him a new face.

Jail Bait was definitely an interesting movie. Probably one of Ed Woods best in the sense that it wasn't so bad its good. But in the sense of its wasn't half bad. I will say however that you could never get away with titling your movie "Jail Bait" in this day and age unless it was a porno. This movie definitely has some good elements such as the music and overall shooting. It looks great in black and white with the all the shots in the city. Jail Bait is an interesting story idea that is predictable but really fits into the cult movie status. It has some bad acting some weird dialogue but overall is a fun and entertaining ride. I will say that the music definitely reminded me of "Scooby-Doo" at times. See for yourself, but that's all I could really think of. It does have some ambiance that fits with the story really well. I won't give to much away about the plot because it is predictable. It could have been better but it does provide some cheap entertainment. Not a bad one, but a pass.

Another turkey from the worlds worst director Ed Wood. It doesnt has bad acting like Plan 9 does, but its still bad. Nevertheless, a good movie for any so-bad-its-good fan.

The basic idea behind Jail Bait is pretty simple and that's sort of the problem with this film. You have a hardened criminal who murders the son of a cosmotologist who is covering for his son's murder. Yea I made it sound more complex than it really is. Anyway, so the crimial kills the son and goes to the cosmotologist to have his face changed because the cops are breathing down his neck. Now who do you think the cosmotologist is going to change the criminal's face into?? I won't tell you, you can probably figure it out for yourself if you think about it for a second. That and the dames in this film cannot act who a squat, it's like they're reading off cue cards or something. I got this film paired with The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery so I watched it for the hell of it. If you see it in a discount bin somewhere, leave it be and find another film.
