As a child Jack Brooks witnessed the brutal murder of his family. Now a young man he struggles with a pestering girlfriend, therapy sessions that resolve nothing, and night classes that barely hold his interest. After unleashing an ancient curse, Jack's Professor undergoes a transformation into something not-quite- human, and Jack is forced to confront some old demons... along with a few new ones.

'Jack Brooks' is the best horror comedy since 'Shaun of the Dead.' It's funny, sick, well-acted and surprisingly character driven. And it's ultimately Englund's performance that pulls the film out of better-than-average territory into the realm of horror

i love this film and i'm giving it 5 stars simply because it pisses in the face of CGI, none of that crap here :D this film relies on good ol' fashion costume, make up and prosthetics and it's great to see a film like that being made in this day and age. I can't wait to watch the making of, and the creating of the creature effects special features on the dvd.

Saw this at Fan Expo '08. Solid presentation, very well done special effects. There is no CGI in this movie, all the effects are done practically. There is enough of a story, but the movie doesn't overly concern itself with the details.

"Fun" movies like this are a rare breed these days, the genre saturated with torture and gore. this was a fun time and recommended to Evil Dead, Monster Squad and Shaun of the Dead fans.

The ARmy of Darkness of this decade. Not as campy as it should have been but with some awesome 80's style gore and special effects, how can you go wrong. An awesome score, some good acting and a solid plot. My one complaint would be the lack of actual "Monster Slaying" going on. The movie does take quite a while before anything like that begins and it feels like it ends too quickly. That said, I still loved and recommend it to anyone who looks campy over the top B-movies
