An amazing movie depicting a mans life growing up in the era of the residential school in Canada. Such an important topic, a must see movie.

Wow! Powerful story. Hits at so many issues that confront native people around boarding schools and racism.

Beautifully shot film. The Screen Plays stays close to Richard Wagamese's book. The film never shys away from the harshness of the residential system. These poor children and the after math of this torturous upbringing are front and centre. Our national sport and its treatment of 1st nations is also scrutinized. This cultural genocide is shown for what it was, government and church sanctioned torture. Richard wrote a book and Campanelli made a film that hits a person right between the eyes. No denial and no excuses. The film tells the truth and there is no escaping it.

If a film like this can help cast off people's racist assumptions about Indigenous life in Canada, then that is still a public good worth commending.
