Lt. Dave Robicheaux, a detective in New Iberia, Louisiana, is trying to link the murder of a local hooker to New Orleans mobster Julie 'Baby Feet' Balboni, who is co-producer of a Civil War film. When the star of the film, Elrod Sykes, reports finding another corpse in the Atchafalaya Swamp near the movie set, Robicheaux starts another investigation, believing the corpse to be the remains of a black man whose murder he witnessed 35 years earlier.

Tommy Lee Jones is fantastic in this tale of the deep south. It's an all-round good film. Nicely paced, it builds to a great ending.. My only complaint is that, in the ghost scenes, there's no FX to differentiate between Jones & the Ghosts. Lacking this, the scene doesn't seem surreal enough to be believed. (If that makes any sense) The way it's shot, it just looks like he's walked onto a civil war movie set. Which is a little confusing, since there's a civil war movie being made in the town where this is set. Well worth watching nonetheless..

way better than Heaven's Prisoners. I hope Tommy Lee Jones is in more of these based on the other novels

This was a REALLY good movie. It was long but it didn't feel long. Great story.
