In the Electric Mist (2009)

Lt. Dave Robicheaux, a detective in New Iberia, Louisiana, is trying to link the murder of a local hooker to New Orleans mobster Julie 'Baby Feet' Balboni, who is co-producer of a Civil War film. When the star of the film, Elrod Sykes, reports finding another corpse in the Atchafalaya Swamp near the movie set, Robicheaux starts another investigation, believing the corpse to be the remains of a black man whose murder he witnessed 35 years earlier.

This movie contains some beautiful images of both the colloquial and the natural, the old and the new Louisiana. From image to text, this film is philosophical without being pedantic and definitely not boring if you love old Southern sentimentality drawn with raw edges and hints of the supernatural. History and culture buffs might appreciate the subtexts carried by the smaller parts and props. This movie makes me grateful to have such things on record--things like the way a person might move through the bayous and even navigate intrusive modernity as potentially deadly and magically complex as the thickets and swamps of Louisiana itself. It's a gem.

C'est très bien filmé, l'intrigue est plutôt bien ficelée et Tommy Lee Jones est un grand acteur!

Very good. Tommy Lee Jones is always great...so is Goodman.

Some French directors can do as well as American directors

way better than Heaven's Prisoners. I hope Tommy Lee Jones is in more of these based on the other novels
