Totally awesome and twisted--not for the faint of heart. One of Miike's best, although as a fried of mine once said "There's so much rape in that movie" and indeed there is. Again, not for those with weak constitutions. But Ichi does an excellent job interrogating the nature of love, desire, devotion, and the effects of a damaging childhood. It also deconstructs our love of violence and depravity and the lines that separate us from them.

THis is a rather hard film to explain. Its a really dark comedy, a horror, a yakuza film, a living comic book. Its just something you have to see to beleive. Warning: it is very disquesting.

Probably the most obscene film I've ever watched. The hyper-violent and chaotic storyline are amazing and cringe-worthy but the crazy characters and bizarre narrative are enough for repeat viewings. NOT for the feint of heart or weak of stomach.
