I really liked it. It is a really interesting topic, and relevant! I was seriously impressed.

Michael is not without his weaknesses and despite declaring that he no longer identifies with being a homosexual, it does not necessary mean that he ceases relationships with the same sex.

Andrew Lapin 26 Jan 2017

Despite some wooden line readings, Franco gives himself fully to the challenge of rendering Glatze with truth and resolve.

A bunch of sensitive babies might get offended at this movie but it happened in real life, and it's good to see the other side of rather someone is born gay or not.

Eric Kohn 13 Mar 2015

Anchored by a remarkably convincing performance by James Franco in the lead role, I Am Michael manages to explore Glatze's story without condemning him, even as it foregrounds the troubling nature of his path.
