Home Town Story (1951)

Blake Washburn blames manufacturer MacFarland for his defeat in the race for re-election to the state legislature. He takes over his uncle's newspaper to take on big business as an enemy of the people. Miss Martin works in the "Herald" newspaper office. When tragedy strikes, Blake must re-examine his views.

decent little flick. it was interesting to see Marilyn Monroe in a part before Hollywood turned her in into a sex symbol

the movie was made under the supervision of general motors to show the advantages of big business. it looks certainly more like a bad commercial than a movie of any kind. marilyn monroe, who has a very small role, makes it worth watching.

Very ordinary story about a man realizing what's important in life through - disagreements with his best friend and fiance, and almost losing his kid sister. I don't get why they make such a big deal about Marilyn Monroe being in this film, she's just the receptionist and adds absolutely nothing to the plot.

It's pretty boring and forgettable, and is only worth watching for Marilyn Monroe's cameo role (current DVDs list her as the star). I'm a huge fan of movies from Hollywood's golden age, but, like any era, this is proof that only the truly good ones become remembered.
