Smiling Faces is a strongly promising first effort, introducing a talented filmmaker who’s still in the process of finding his own voice. Still, don’t be too surprised if, three or four features down the road, it retroactively looks much more singular.

Too introspective for my taste and despite the fact that its duration is quite short, the pace is not an ally. However it's pretty well filmed and personally I never found it boring. Perhaps for each viewer it will be a different experience due to the apparent lack of meaning in what takes place on the screen, but if you like films that are more contemplative than proactive, perhaps you should give it a chance.
