An American pilot and a Japanese naval officer are castaways on the same deserted island. At first they torment each other but eventually they work together to build a raft and leave the island. An interesting human drama. The ending doesn't make sense. It's almost like they didn't know what else to do.

Absolutely first rate casting bringing together two great actors and using the supposedly idyllic setting to set a private war.

7.5/10. Wonderful film, well developed characters and very interesting presentation. The acting is great, especially Toshiro Mifune. Pacific island location shooting is a plus.
