toshiro mifune no deja de sorprender. dos hombres solos en una isla, en tiempo de guerra y de diferentes bandos. diferentes idiomas dejan fuera las palabras, solo grandes actores pueden mantener una pelicula asi. los norteamericanos sirven bien poco: roban y humillan. si no es por el japones el gringo se muere de sed.

Great, the balance of power shifts between the 2 men in such an absorbing way, and the whole thing is beatifully shot, a truly great film

two of the worlds greatest actors directed by boorman. both men had to re-live their war experience making this film. the men speak different languages, so it's interesting to watch how they communicate. even though they are enemies, they must learn to work together in order to survive. but can they let go of the enemy hate? nope. i loved this film but the ending was not so good, otherwise i would give it a full 5 stars. the film is a great study in the psychology of war.

The acting in this film is incredible, despite the lack of dialogue. It is one of those movies where it feels shorter that its 1hr 42 min length. The alternate ending in the special features is way better than the ending in the film. Also, make sure to turn on the subtitles, because the Japanese dialogue is not subtitled without turning them on. Highly recommended.

Great chemistry between Marvin and Mifune but the ending was quite abrupt in IMO
