Fabulous movie! Go see it. You won’t be disappointed. My review ended up under Green Room! Did not realize that Green Book didn’t come up.

There’s something so deeply right about this movie, so true to the time depicted and so welcome in this moment; so light in its touch, so properly respectful of its characters, and so big in its spirit that the movie acquires a glow.

An excellent film. Is it a more idyllic vision of the 60's than the reality of that time? Quite undoubtedly. However, that doesn't change the effectiveness of the story. Sometimes we need a little bit of idealism. Even if the film is sometimes timid in it's portrayal of racism in the deep south. But this movie isn't intended to be torture porn or a cautionary picture of the world, it's a film about how we as people can be better and how we can overcome our differences. Director Peter Farrelly brings humor to the film, making it more mirthful than I had expected, but it always comes from the characters naturally and feels right. It's often witty and clever and maybe even a little saccharine, but this is a great film with outstanding performances by Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.

An affecting movie, which could have been improved by centering the story more firmly around its black protagonist, and avoiding overly-simplistic story beats celebrating white characters for overcoming racism.

This movie was fantastic - although I've read much about the racism in the US back then, the performance by Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen really painted the picture vividly, and showed the difficulties and abuse an African-American faced in even attempting to climb the social ladder. But all this was conveyed and brought forth in a truly likable and warm narrative through the chemistry of Ali and Mortensen, and inspired hope in changing hearts by shining like a sun and not blowing like the wind.
