Gothic (1987)

Living on an estate on the shores of Lake Geneva, Lord Byron is visited by Percy and Mary Shelley. Together with Byron's lover Claire Clairmont, and aided by hallucinogenic substances, they devise an evening of ghoulish tales. However, when confronted by horrors, ostensibly of their own creation, it becomes difficult to tell apparition from reality.

Really the only reason that I watched this movie is because the wife of my former boss was one of the leads. The copy I had had -terrible- audio, so I can't really comment on much other than that my former boss has a very pretty wife and that I have a soft spot for Julian Sands. and bad movies.

A story about Mary Shelley and her literary type friends on hallucinogens in an old gothic castle and the intellectual chaos that ensues. Her connection to the infamous tale of Frankenstein isn't the highlight of this movie, but is referenced to in the final moments. Seemed like ridiculously strong liquid LSD Lord Byron picked up that day.
