This is probably the best movie I've seen out of 1973. Got it for a buck at Wal-Mart and am glad that I took advantage of that deal. Some really creepy stuff that will be sure to keep you entertained throughout the entirety of the movie.

A Z-Grade Shutter Island with an intolerable amount of screaming. The concept of member of an insane asylum acting out their fantasies is quite novel and leads to an obvious. But the screaming! And the ginger haired guy!

Sure, its cheesy and often amusing...but really, its also a rather effective low budget effort. I was pleasantly surprised.

The basement in question is the bargain one, though despite the budgetary limitations this horrific variant on Shock Corridor (see also Asylum) has some effective moments and deserves points for effort, though is unlikely to be of much interest to anyone other than hardened genre fans.

70's exploitation/horror at its finest.
