Before the wonderful TV series "Tour Of Duty" and movies such as "Full Metal Jacket" and "Platoon" that dealt with the Vietnam War, there was "Go Tell the Spartans". I thought this movie was really good. It gave important insights into the very early stages of American involvement in the conflict. Burt Lancaster is simply fantastic in the lead role. This is a quality and very believable war movie that deserves to be better known.

Extremely good Burt Lancaster film about US advisors in Vietnam in 1964. Great dialogue, good script and good performances by Wasson, Kim, Singer and Goldsmith. Highly underrated Vietnam movie.

Early Vietnam entry goes back to pre-war events where a US Advisory team is attempting to monitor the situation with limited resources after the French withdrawal. Needless to say, it does not end well. Based on a novel written in 1967. Singer and Kim would team together in the V miniseries.

Seek this one out. My feeling is that it is the best film about the Vietnam War ever made, though I am sure I am in the minority with that opinion.
