Glory Daze (1995)

Jack, a soon-to-be graduate, finds he's having a difficult time letting go of the college life -- and decides maybe he doesn't have to. Also questioning whether there's life after college are Jack's roommates: Rob, who fears domestication; comic-strip artist Mickey, who's shy around girls; intellectual party animal Slosh; and perpetual student Dennis.

Meandering coming-of-age story about college punks trying to come to grips with the real world. The story has been done numerous times and Glory Daze doesn't really add much new to the genre. The movie isn't engaging enough even on a mindless level, devoid of the humor and antics found in such other '90s classics as PCU, nor are the characters and their stories developed enough to take the entire work seriously. The film overall seemed to be riding this wave between melancholy and comedy but continued to wander in it's attempt right up until the rehashed ending. Not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it just didn't have the same kind of charm it's contemporaries have. This is Wilkes' first film as a director and it shows through very strongly.

Yet another slow starting movie about a bunch of punks... it overall failed to impress me, but perhaps only because of Afflecks lame ass mohawk. It was enjoyable, just it was no SLC Punk or even Anachist Cookbook.

For some reason I like to watch this movie despite Affleck's narration and clunky editing. "Angst for the memories."

A fun look at people who aren't ready to move on after college. They fear that all the fun is about to go away as they are forced into the real world. Good acting by up and coming folks and good characters.

A good story hidden underneath drunken college debauchery and a punk soundtrack. This movie is one of the reasons I went away to school ;) Angst for the memories.
