Great pictures, but i don't really like the plot.. Emmannuelle was magnifique! the emotion spread out of the screen.

The wife of a brute Frenchman accuses her husband of cheating on her with her sister. The event leads to shocking developments, in the setting of a small and distant French village. The photography is quite impressive, and Fonteyne is able to build a nice intense atmosphere. However, the plot is a little too restrictive and in the end the film ends up feeling cold and a little dull.

Esta es una obra maestra como he visto pocas, hermosa, poetica, excelente con actuaciones formidables, musica y fotografia de primerisima calidad y con una de las mejores direcciones que este humilde servidor haya visto en mucho tiempo, solo para los amantes del GRAN CINE 10 de 10.

maybe i liked this movie for the wrong reasons: french food, french, france, cute little kids, nice outfits and beautiful shots. without those things, i probably would've hated this movie. all of the characters were so mean to gilles' wife. she herself was the annoying optimistic who overworked herself for nothing. it was pathetic.

The film is sustained by its cinematography and the psychological depth of Emmanuelle Devos' performance in her role as Elisa, a dutiful and overworked wife who suspects her husband of having an affair, and ultimately becomes a participant in her own degradation.
