Weak plot, good acting, not much to say about this.

Satisfying in many regards, this handsome soaper is nevertheless undermined by a script (by Ernest Lehman, no less) that doesn't flow as much as stumble forward.

Paul Newman stars in another highly-watcable film about the decay underneath the gold-plated veneer of East Caost high society. Joanne Woodward shines as Newman's spoiled, vindictive wife.

Movies simply aren't made like this anymore. Holds a lot of grit, and a brooding honesty and in my opinion is one of the best Newman performances. Especially when it comes to his classic period. Ending touches my heart, every time.
