Fletch was Chevy Chase's second best role, after Clark Griswold of course, and the many characters he plays in Fletch only displays his diversity as an actor.

I've seen a lot of reviews that talk about how inferior to the original this film is. After watching it I think that there are aspects of the film that I find are a lot better than the original. For instance there are many more 'laugh out loud' moments in this film than there was in the original. While the plot's a bit thinner, the film makes up for it by becoming more quotable and having more jokes than its predecessor. From its lampooning of the South, televangelists, slaves, bikers, and more this is not a politically correct film and it doesn't take any prisoners either.
